G-A5 Youth Program

Schools in Gwinnett County are finally taking steps that will remedy the irrefutable fact that, with few exceptions, Gwinnett High Schools are rarely competitive with schools in Fulton or Cobb Counties.  The reason?  Gwinnett has historically not fielded middle school volleyball teams.

 

No more.  Ten such teams are competing this season, and the number is certain to grow in coming years. 

 

GA5 and Suwanee Sports Academy ("SSA") are combining forces this season with the U10 - U12 age group to be on the front end of the explosion that is about to take place.  GA5 U12 teams will train as a team under GA5 coaches on Mondays and Wednesdays as part of SSA's Volley Academy.  This will result in an increase in participation to SSA, while SSA's participants will have the opportunity to compete at weekend tournaments under the GA5 banner, which will both broaden the Academy's appeal and significantly grow GA5's U12 program. This partnership represents a classic win-win venture, enabling both programs to expand their offerings and reach more young prospective volleyball athletes.

 

This seems the appropriate time and place to announce that Mallory Moore will be serving as GA5's Youth Director.  Mallory is a GA5 Alumna, graduating in 2011 before attending/playing for/graduating from The Citadel.  She went on to earn her MBA from the Citadel before returning to Atlanta.  We are delighted to welcome her back to the Family!
